DepEd introduces innovation on school enrollment

ILOILO CITY, May 19 (PNA) – The City Division of Schools here is introducing innovation this coming school year to ease out congestion during enrollment in public schools.

Dr. Erlinda Gencaya, city division superintendent, said the enrolment innovation would facilitate the automatic enrollment of Grade Two up to Grade Six and Second Year up to Fourth Year high school by posting the names of pupils in their respective school room.

US Ambassador to launch US-funded science training for Mindanao high school teachers

Davao City (17 May) — US Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney will deliver remarks at the opening of a US-funded training workshop for selected secondary school teachers from Mindanao on Monday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.

The training, which will be conducted in partnership with international non-governmental organization My Community Our Earth, will be held May 19-23 at the Philippine Science High School in Tugbok District, Mintal, Davao City.

Cebu City’s pre-school tutors finish training for ‘Genius Baby’ plan

CEBU CITY, May 17 (PNA) – Cebu City’s daycare and pre-school teachers are now ready to implement the Cebu City Government’s “Genius Baby” program after they finished their two-week training on Montessori education.

Former councilor Joy Augustus Young, Cebu City’s education consultant who first proposed the “Genius Baby” program, said the teachers will take a more student-oriented approach, where children will learn to use their senses and be exposed to hands-on learning.

Citywide caravan marks start of Brigada Eskuela in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY, May 16 (PNA) – A citywide caravan starting at the regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd) passing through the major thoroughfares of the city on June 2 will mark the beginning of the weeklong Brigada Eskuela here.

This was announced by Dr. Ma. Febe Cang, assistant school superintendent of the Division of Iloilo City, the focal person of the Brigada Eskuela.
